Campus Wi-Fi

All academic and administrative buildings and public spaces are covered by our campus Wi-Fi network. All residential halls are covered by a seperate residential hall network. For information on how to connect to residential hall Wi-Fi, please visit Residential Hall Wi-Fi tab below.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Students – connect with student email address (@tigers.nemcc.edu) and MyNEMCC password

Faculty and staff – connect with your email address (@nemcc.edu) and MyNEMCC password

Steps to Connect

Visit your network settings.
From the list of available networks, choose NEMCC-Secure.
When prompted, enter your @nemcc.edu or @tigers.nemcc.edu email address and password, click submit.
Choose to "Trust" the network.
You’re now connected!

Forgetting a Network

If you were previously connected to another on campus network such as NEMCC-Guest, first "forget" those networks before connecting to NEMCC-Secure. To forget a network, visit your network settings, and select the option to forget the network.

Wireless FAQs

Why do I need to login with my full email address?

Northeast requires your nemcc.edu or tigers.nemcc.edu email address and password to connect. If you have a departmental email address, such as department@nemcc.edu, do not use this email address, instead use your nemcc.edu email address. You will not be able to connect with an alias email address.

Is there an easy way to restart my connection?

Turn off/on your WiFi as a remedy for slowness or intermittent connectivity. Turning your wireless service off and back on, will reset your connection and reconnect you to the nearest wireless access point.

Is the campus well covered with WiFi access?

We have over 500 wireless access points in buildings across campus, and we’re adding more to provide a better service to you.

Can I use a personal router or hotspot on campus?

Please don’t use a wireless hotspot, and please don’t bring a router or WiFi extender to campus. Personal network routers and hotspots significantly and negatively impact the campus network environment by interfering with the NEMCC network. This interference can make the network unusable, since it operates using some of the same channels as these personal routers and access points.

WiFi uses a radio frequency that is open for everyone to use, and as a consequence, large-scale WiFi networks, such as the ones deployed on the NEMCC campus, require careful coordination and cooperation to operate well and provide quality service. All wireless access points or routers in NEMCC buildings need to be coordinated so that they do not occupy the same channel. The College carefully designs and operates the WiFi networks in each building to allow multiple access points to work with each other and provide a reliable and stable wireless environment for all to use. When a rogue access point is used, this carefully designed system is compromised.

About the Network

The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is committed to delivering top-notch networking and telephone services to all college buildings, as well as multiple off-site locations. Most buildings are seamlessly connected to the core network with high-speed 10 Gbps services, ensuring reliable and fast internet access. To achieve superior connectivity, ITS operates one or more network equipment closets in each building. These closets house the switches that link buildings to the core network and distribute connections to all wall jacks and wireless access points within the building. Each closet is equipped with air conditioning and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems to safeguard against brief power outages and provide power line conditioning, ensuring uninterrupted service.

In our continuous effort to enhance wireless connectivity, ITS has deployed over 500 monitored wireless access points across the campus. These access points offer high-density coverage in classrooms, libraries, and other areas with heavy usage, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have reliable access to the internet wherever they are. This extensive network infrastructure represents a significant investment in the quality of technology services provided to the Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) community, reflecting our commitment to supporting their academic and professional endeavors with cutting-edge technology.
