How it Works:

  • There will be 10 health related objectives (Explained below) to complete during the 6-week challenge period which runs from Jan. 15th - Feb. 25th. Any participant that completes 8 out of the 10 health objectives will successfully complete the challenge and win a share of the $600 prize.
  • Complete the health objectives providing documentation on the forms. Electronic forms to document each health objective can be found on the registration form, by clicking here, or hard copies can be picked up at Burgess Fitness Center upon request (rdwalker@nemcc.edu).
  • The challenge ends on Feb. 25th. Completed forms will be accepted electronically by navigating to https://nemcc.formstack.com/forms/sp24_fitness_challenge_submissions and uploading the file. Forms can also be printed off and completed by hand. Hand completed forms can be turned in at Burgess Fitness Center. Completed forms are due by Wednesday, February 28th.

The 10 Objectives:

You must complete 8 out of 10 of these objectives during the 6-week challenge period to successfully complete this challenge and win a share of the $600. Documentation of completion of each objective must be turned in at the end of the challenge.

  • 15 Fitness Classes: 15 fitness related classes must be attended during the 6-week period to complete this objective. You may accomplish this by taking a class at Burgess Fitness Center or any other gym or facility. You may also take an online class through a streaming platform.
  • 24 aerobic/cardio activity Sessions: 24 aerobic/cardio activity sessions must be completed during the 6-week period to complete this objective. Each session must consist of 30 minutes of cardio activity within a 24-hour time frame. This could be as light as taking a walk. Other examples include jogging, swimming, biking, or rowing. You may break your activity up into two 15-minute sessions (It does not have to all be done at once). This must be done independently of a class or any other objective (You cannot take a 30-minute class and use this to accomplish both objectives).
  • 18 Strength Training Sessions: 18 strength training sessions must be completed during the 6-week period to complete this objective. This objective can be accomplished by lifting weights or engaging in body weight exercises at Burgess Fitness Center, in another gym, or at home. The session must last at least 15 minutes. This must be done independently of a class or any other objective (You cannot take a class and use this to accomplish both objectives).
  • 30 Days of Drinking 8 cups (64 oz) of water: 30 days a participant must drink at least 8 cups (64oz) of water. Only water counts.
  • 1 Pre-body composition (Height, Weight, Age, Gender, BF%, BMI): This can be completed at Burgess Fitness Center from the time you sign up until Friday, January 19th at 12:00 PM. Body Composition Hours are Mon-Thurs 8AM-9PM and Fri 8AM-12PM. If you cannot make it during these hours or work at a satellite campus and commuting to Booneville is inconvenient for you, please email rdwalker@nemcc.edu to set up an appointment so that this can be completed. Accommodations can and will be made. You will receive a free Burgess t-shirt for completing this objective.
  • 1 Post-body composition (Height, Weight, Age, Gender, BF%, BMI): This can be completed at Burgess Fitness Center from Monday, February 19th until Friday, February 23rd at 12:00 PM. Body Composition Hours are Mon-Thurs 8AM-9PM and Fri 8AM-12PM. If you cannot make it during these hours or work at a satellite campus and commuting to Booneville is inconvenient for you, please email rdwalker@nemcc.edu to set up an appointment so that this can be completed. Accommodations can and will be made.
  • 30 Blood Pressure Measurements: 30 blood pressure measurements must be taken to complete this objective. You may take this at home, Wal-Mart, a pharmacy, or at Burgess Fitness Center.
  • 30 Days of Completing a Food Log: A participant must document all food/drink consumed for 30 separate days to complete this objective.
  • 40 Days of Completing a Sleep Log: A participant must document approximately how much sleep is acquired for 40 separate days to complete this objective.
  • 18 Meditation sessions: 18 meditation sessions must be completed to acquire this objective. Each session must last at least 10 minutes. A participant may complete this with any type of quiet time, prayer, or guided meditation. There are a lot of free apps or YouTube videos that you can use to complete this objective if you need help.

Winners/Prizes:

Anyone who completes 8 out of 10 objectives will win a share of the $600 prize. For example, if 10 participants successfully complete the challenge, each of these participants will take home $60 cash. 

Winners will be contacted and announced by Monday, March 4th.
