Pre-Health Sciences

Dental Hygiene

The Dental Hygiene faculty spend many of their instructional hours in the NEMCC clinical facilities assisting students & their clinic patients. Please utilize the faculty's contact information listed. Email is the most efficient means to reach a faculty member- ensuring a quicker response. We are excited about your interest in the program and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Diagnostic Sonography

Diagnostic Medical Sonography uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of organs, masses, fluid collections, and vascular structures within the human body. Sonography is user-dependent, requiring competent and highly skilled professionals to participate in the integral health care system. Sonographers have extensive, direct patient contact, providing care to various people, from healthy to critically ill.

Medical Assisting Technology

The mission of the NEMCC Medical Assisting Technology Program is to prepare medical assistants who excel in the knowledge, skill, and professionalism required by employers and the medical community. It should be understood by each student that a total commitment on the part of him/her is required.

Medical Laboratory Technology

The Medical Laboratory Technology Program is designed to prepare the graduate to work in a medical laboratory under the supervision of a medical technologist or pathologist and/or other physicians. They perform a wide range of routine tests and laboratory procedures in the areas of hematology, bacteriology, blood banking, chemistry, parasitology, serology, and urinalysis.

Radiologic Technology

The program prepares students for employment in hospitals or clinics as radiographers. Radiographers produce radiographs (x-rays) of bones and body structures as directed by supervising physicians. This program will focus on principles of general radiography in preparation for the ARRT registry exam (a national certifying board examination).

Respiratory Care Technology

Respiratory therapists are members of a team of health care professionals working in various clinical settings to evaluate, treat, and manage patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders. As members of this team, respiratory therapists should exemplify the standards and ethics expected of all health professionals.
