Practical Nursing Education

The Practical Nursing program is located in Wright Hall on the Booneville campus. The graduate of the program receives a Certificate of Practical Nursing and is eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The title of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is awarded after successful completion of the licensure examination.The Practical Nursing program prepares the individual to assist in providing general nursing care requiring basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, psychological, and sociological sciences; and of nursing procedures which do not require the skills, judgment, and knowledge required of a registered nurse. This care is performed under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist.





Admission Requirements

The Practical Nursing program is the only Health Science program that admits students for spring semester.  You will need to apply to NEMCC and be assigned a NE ID# BEFORE applying for the PN program.  If you want to apply for the spring 2025 admissions please follow the link provided.  For questions about the spring admissions contact Dr. Kristi Tooley at kmtooley@nemcc.edu

Accreditation

The Practical Nursing program is accredited by the Mississippi Board of Nursing, 713 S. Pear Orchard Rd #300, Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Program Outcomes

 
2021-35 graduates, 29 passed 1st Write = 83 % pass rate
 
2022-30 Graduates, 23 passed 1st Write = 77 % pass rate
 
2023-34 graduates, 31 passed 1st Write = 91 % pass rate
 
3-year mean = 84%
