The Practical Nursing program is located in Wright Hall on the Booneville campus. The graduate of the program receives a Certificate of Practical Nursing and is eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The title of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is awarded after successful completion of the licensure examination.The Practical Nursing program prepares the individual to assist in providing general nursing care requiring basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, psychological, and sociological sciences; and of nursing procedures which do not require the skills, judgment, and knowledge required of a registered nurse. This care is performed under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist.
Admission Requirements
The Practical Nursing program is the only Health Science program that admits students for spring semester. You will need to apply to NEMCC and be assigned a NE ID# BEFORE applying for the PN program. The Practical Nursing program is accredited by the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211
