And the Winner is......

"And the Winner is,"  will again ring throughout the rolling hills of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee.  On September 30, 2023, your band can experience excitement, anticipation, and a flow of energy like none other afforded to band students.  The excitement will happen again this fall at the  “NORTHEAST REGIONAL MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP”.

This year we will be offering a ratings-only festival earlier in the day and then the Caption Portion of the contest afterwards. This 40th annual NRMC contest will offer competing bands expert critiques from a highly qualified panel of judges, who have quality experience in their captions. Using the State Championship Adjudication Criteria the following captions will be judged:

  • Colorguard/Dance Team/Majorette: Kim Presley
  • Drum Major: Chris Sumrall
  • Ensemble Music: Bill Braden
  • General Effect Music: Keith Heim
  • General Effect Visual: Mark Tattum
  • Ind/field music: Jeff Cannon
  • Ind/field visual: Matt Rowan
  • Percussion: Dave England
  • Visual Ensemble: Adam Clark

For the caption portion, bands will not receive ratings; however, scores will place the bands.    1st, 2nd, and 3rd place bands in each of the classifications will be awarded trophies based on the total of the caption judges’ scores.

Competing bands will receive adjudication sheets, and trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rankings in marching band, guard, percussion, drum major, dance squad, and majorette line in each of the classifications.

The Northeast Regional Marching Band Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the overall high-scoring smaller band competing in (classes 1A, 2A, and 3A) and the overall high-scoring larger band competing in (classes 4A, 5A, and 6A). Unlike the class-winning bands, the Northeast Regional Marching Band Sweepstakes winners will be determined by the total of the guard, percussion, and all five caption judges’ scores.

The 2023 "NORTHEAST REGIONAL MARCHING BAND GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP" trophy will be awarded to the higher-scoring sweepstakes-winning band.

The entry fee is $150 and must be received with the application by September 15, 2023.   The order of application receipt will determine the order of performance.  The band that returns their application first will perform last in class and the band that returns their application last will perform first in class with all other bands being placed likewise.

Hopefully, your students and band supporters will not miss the excitement of the 40th festive celebration for marching bands at the "NRMC".
