Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Showband from Tigerland is bringing the holiday spirit to area Christmas parades.

Northeast’s marching band will be highlighted in three area holiday parades during the late stages of November and early December during the 2017 fall semester.

Since marching season ended in late October, the Northeast Tiger band has not been sitting idly by and has instead been focusing on bringing the holiday spirit to the communities surrounding the college.

Northeast began its 2017 holiday marching season on Monday, November 27 when the Showband from Tigerland made its annual appearance in the City of Belmont’s Christmas parade.

A date in Alcorn County continues the Northeast Tiger band’s Christmas parade schedule as the nearly 250-member band travels to Corinth for the annual Corinth-Alcorn County Christmas parade on Saturday, December 2.

Northeast will arrive at the First Baptist Church in historic downtown Corinth at 4:30 p.m. before stepping off as one of the first marching bands in the parade at 5 p.m.

Northeast’s Showband from Tigerland will wrap up its 2017 holiday marching season in its hometown – the City of Hospitality – Booneville, on Monday, December 4.

Members of the band will meet at the Church of Christ just off Second Street in Booneville and will join the parade for the entire route of the parade through downtown Booneville starting at 6 p.m.

Northeast’s Showband from Tigerland is one of the largest organizations on campus, bolstering nearly 250 members strong in the marching band and serves as a marketing, recruiting and goodwill ambassador for the college.

In addition to its fall marching season, the Showband from Tigerland hosts its annual Northeast Regional Marching Band Championship in October, which draws some of the top marching bands from Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi, along with performances at pep rallies, home basketball games and recruitment events such as NE NOW, where high school seniors from the college’s five-county area come for a tour of campus.
