NEMCC Commencement Ceremonies Set for May 10 and 11

Northeast Mississippi Community College will hold its annual commencement exercises on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11 in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum on the Booneville campus.

Northeast will recognize candidates for degrees and certificates from the college’s Division of Health Sciences on Thursday, May 10 while degree and certificate candidates from the divisions of mathematics and sciences; business and engineering technology; fine arts; social, behavioral and applied sciences; and humanities and languages will be honored on Friday, May 11.

Both ceremonies are set to begin at 7 p.m. in front of near capacity crowds.

Darren Bass of Jackson, Tenn., will perform the National Anthem on Thursday evening while Molly Peyton Thorn of Belmont will sing the anthem on Friday night.

Members of the college’s Board of Trustees, administration, retiring faculty/staff members, as well as other guests, will take part in the program.

Ashley Dale Farmer of Waynesboro, Tenn., the 2018 Most Outstanding Student from the division of health sciences, will address her classmates Thursday night and Lainey Stevens of Booneville, the 2017-18 Student Government Association president, will deliver the student response during the Friday night ceremony.

Retiring faculty members Mary Sue Perrigo, Janet Cox, Vickie Huggins and Deborah Kehoe will serve as Grand Marshals for the college’s commencement exercises. Perrigo will serve as the Thursday night Grand Marshal while Cox, Huggins and Kehoe will all be Grand Marshals on Friday.

Northeast president Ricky G. Ford will address the graduates on both nights.

Also during both ceremonies, Northeast Board of Trustee chairman T. Jack Ramsey of Iuka will deliver an official welcome and give remarks.

Northeast executive vice-president Craig-Ellis Sasser will recognize the class of 2018 and Ford will confer the degrees and certificates.

Vice President of Instruction Michelle Baragona will present the 2018 graduation class.
