Prior to the first home football game of the 2017 season, sophomore offensive lineman Jake Wilcox of Hernando (right) was recognized as the initial recipient of the Bryan Steele Memorial Scholarship. Steele’s parents David & Maria Steele established the scholarship in memory of their son who played quarterback at Northeast during the 2010 and 2011 seasons before his unexpected passing in 2012. In 2013 the Tupelo Restaurant Association, of which Bryan’s father was a long-time member, recognized his love for the game of football and Northeast by donating a bronze Tiger statue to the school. It stands directly in front of the field house at the north end of Tiger Stadium.
