Heating and Air Conditioning Technology Program Components
Heating and Air Conditioning is a post secondary certificate instruction program with an Associate Degree option that prepares individuals to work in engineering departments or private firms installing, maintaining, and operating small or medium air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems. Instruction prepares individuals to work in a commercial setting performing special tasks relating to servicing, operation, and maintenance of heating and cooling systems according to the standards of the America Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc., Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), and Air Conditioning Refrigeration Institute (ARI). Included are air conditioning, heating and refrigeration devices; equipment, techniques, and systems; and maintenance and operation of these systems. Academic courses in Written Communication, Math/Science electives, humanities/Fine ARts elective and Social/Behavioral Science elective may be taken in addition to the certificate courses for the Associate Degree option.

Installation of liquid lines and pumps
Computer heat load calculations
Employment Outlook: Demanding in the tri-state area of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Employment of the HVACR Technicians is expected to increase. You may choose to work for a large or small contracting company. If you decide at a later time to start your own independent business, that opportunity also is readily available. How far you go in this field depends only on your commitment and your eagerness to get ahead.
