A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Bryan graduated from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, and earned her graduate degrees from Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. She has taught at Northeast since the summer of 1988. She has three children, Leah, Matthew, and John, and is married to Hudson Bryan. They live in Tupelo.
