Technology Teacher Education

Majoring in Technology Teacher Education prepares students for careers teaching business related courses in high schools and career technology centers, Information and Communication Technology at middle schools, Career Pathways Experiences (cooperative education), Computer Applications, and Technology Foundations.  The program at Northeast Mississippi Community College prepares students for entrance into Institutes of Higher Learning as juniors so they can complete requirements for teacher certification.

Students majoring in Technology Teacher Education will be working towards an A.A. degree at Northeast Mississippi Community College.  As found in the Northeast Mississippi Community College Student Catalog, the Associate of Arts Degree is awarded to students completing university parallel programs.  Candidates for the A.A. degree must complete the following:

  • Earn a minimum of 62 semester hours applicable to a bachelor’s degree of which 3 semester hours (Physical education or other activity courses) may be non-academic credits.
  • Earn a grade point average of 2.0.
  • Complete the 32 semester hours of general education core consisting of English Composition (ENG 1113 and ENG 1123), social and/or behavioral science (6 semester hours from sociology, psychology, political science, geography, economics, or education psychology), humanities (6 semester hours from history, literature, modern foreign language, philosophy, religion, art, speech, or music), laboratory science (8 semester hours), fine arts (3 semester hours selected from art/music/theatre appreciation), mathematics (MAT 1313, equivalent or above).
